Fixing a leaky bathtub faucet – leaky faucet or any other for that matter – can be an expensive process – unless you can not do it alone!

In this article we want to see the most common reason for a leaky faucet, and show you how to fix it quickly and cheaply.

Preparation

It 'almost goes without saying that you must first close the water! Where can I find the handle, does that mean? Just look under the sink and see where the cables run. Somewhereits length is either a handle or a wheel, you can use to turn off the power grid. In almost all cases you must rotate clockwise to close.

A different formulation for the block drain sink – just a bad incident with something loose (like a screw or a small nut) disappear down the drain to prevent ever seen. Use the plug we normally use, or put a little 'cloth opening. It's no good being wise after the event!

And – even if it isCourse – Ensure that a spare disk (or two) from the local hardware store – not looking for when you bought the faucet you to pieces!

Action

Locate the screw that is running the faucet handle in place (which may be behind a small cover plate or being hidden and that limits the need to become familiar with a small screwdriver or similar will be recovered). Then the screw.

The next task is to handle.Use a screwdriver to do this – you may need to apply a little force at a premium, but there will be.

Now you can use the old washer (do not worry, I will see if he wants to introduce, however.) Remove the old washer and the new. Note that the hole in the windshield, a little 'bigger than the central body that rotates the handle.

Now under control, but to tighten the fingers clenched, rotate, that is, only until it stops, without the need for additional force to be applied.

Next,Turn back the waters and see what happens! If there is no loss, you're home and dry (excuse the pun!). If it still leaks, try tightening the grip a little '.

If there is ever losses after that, then the problem elsewhere and you need to get a plumber, after all. But at least it was worth trying!

(And by the way – if you notice a large accumulation of lime around the handle – clean, make arrangements with a specific product away from your hardware store – that will pay long -run).

Things necessary

A screwdriver or two – perhaps a flathead and a Phillips or cross-screw. Two discs (maybe we will take the old time before your visit to the shop to have the right to purchase or just a pack of mixed slices – not to buy expensive to be sure).
